This Way Today is designed around a local-first approach. Below we explain which data stays on the device, which limited data may be processed outside the device and which choices parents have.

In the current version, the core child-board data is stored locally on the device.
This Way Today contains no advertising networks and does not use data for targeted advertising.
Analytics are intended to understand general app usage and technical performance, not the contents of a family plan.
This Way Today is provided by Thomas Bakker, trading as No Big Words. For privacy questions, you can contact us through the Support page on this website.
The current version of This Way Today works without an account or cloud sync. The information a family uses to configure the board is stored locally on the device.
This local data is not automatically sent to us.
Parents can create a backup of local app data in Parent Management and restore it later. The parent PIN is not included in that backup.
Because core data is stored locally, it may be lost if the app or its local storage is removed. Keeping a local backup remains the user’s responsibility.
This Way Today uses PostHog on a limited basis to understand whether and how the app and website are used. In the app, analytics are disabled in the local development environment and can be switched off by a parent in Parent Management. On the website, analytics only start after a visitor has explicitly given permission.
The app uses a randomly generated installation ID as a pseudonymous identifier. We do not send child names, planning content, the parent PIN, care schedules, rules, savings goals or feeling entries as analytics properties.
The analytics configuration does not use automatic click tracking or session recordings. In the app, specific usage events are sent, for example that the app was opened and aggregated durations for visible or active use. On the website, after consent, we measure items such as page views, language switches and whether a support or roadmap form was successfully submitted. Form contents and entered email addresses are not sent as analytics data.
As with any analytics service, technical information associated with a request may be processed when events are sent, such as app/browser, device or network information. PostHog acts as an external service provider for this processing.
When you choose to send feedback, a feature suggestion, a pictogram-category vote or a support message, we process the information you intentionally provide.
Support requires an email address so we can reply. An email address is optional for a roadmap suggestion. In the app, a user may optionally attach a screenshot when sending feedback.
We use external service providers for limited parts of the service. They may process data only as needed to provide the relevant service and under their applicable terms and privacy safeguards.
This Way Today is a family product that can be used by children. We therefore deliberately limit data processing outside the device.
Parents should not include sensitive information about a child in feedback or support messages unless it is genuinely necessary. The website does not ask for children’s names, dates of birth, health information or other child profile data.
Local app data remains on the device until the user changes or deletes it, clears the app storage or removes the app.
We keep feedback and support messages only for as long as reasonably necessary for support, product improvement, administration or handling the request. You can ask through Support for personal data in such messages to be deleted, where we still hold it and have no legal reason to keep it longer.
When analytics are switched off by a parent, the app stops sending new analytics events from that installation.
You can switch analytics off in Parent Management. You can manage local data yourself and export a backup.
For questions about personal data, access, correction or deletion, contact us through Support. The exact rights that apply depend on applicable privacy law.
Cloud sync, management from other devices and similar online features are not part of the current local-first core. If such features are added later, we will update this privacy policy and, where needed, the privacy choices in the app before that processing is used.
We may update this privacy policy when the app, website, service providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
Contact us through Support. Do not include child data or other sensitive family information unless it is genuinely necessary to answer your question.
