Getting started
What age is This Way Today for?
This Way Today is designed for children who benefit from a visual and predictable overview of their day. There is deliberately no strict age range: what matters most is whether the format is helpful and understandable for your child.
Do children need their own account?
No. The first release works without accounts. Parents configure the app on the iPad and children use the child board.
Do I need to configure everything before we start?
No. You can start with a few activities for today. People & places, Look ahead, rules, savings goals and other features can be added later when they are useful.
Planning & child board
Can I put an activity at a specific time?
Yes. An activity can be linked to a specific time or only to morning, afternoon or evening. Use exact times mainly when they genuinely help your child.
Can I combine activities or show them side by side?
Yes. Use a Bundle for activities that often belong together. In the daily plan, individual activities can also be shown as a group or side by side when that works better visually.
What is the difference between day and week view?
Day view keeps today central and shows immediate context. Week view shows several days at once while still making today visually most important.
Can I mark holidays or school-free days?
Yes. Holidays, school-free days, celebrations and other exceptions can be made visible so a different routine does not come as a surprise.
Who am I with?
Can I set who or where my child is with?
Yes. Under People & places, create for example Mum, Dad, Grandma, Babysitter or Camp. The Base week defines the normal rhythm and Week overview shows what ultimately applies each day.
What if a day or period is different?
You do not need to change the Base week. Add an Exception for one day, a period or an existing special period. After that, the Base week automatically continues.
Can I also add a sleepover, babysitter day or camp week?
Yes. Those are good examples for Who am I with? A person or place can be Grandma, Babysitter or Camp. For a camp week, you can reuse the same special period so the dates do not need to be maintained separately in two places.
Multiple children
Can I add multiple children?
Yes. Each child can have their own planning, Base week, Exceptions and preferences. You can quickly switch between children on the child board.
Do I need to recreate shared items for every child?
Not always. Items such as rules, savings goals, bundles, special days and look-ahead items can be assigned to one or more children where that makes sense.
Pricing & access
How much will This Way Today cost?
At App Store launch, you can try the complete app for 7 days. After that, Full Access is €9.99 as a one-time purchase. There is no subscription for the first release.
What happens after the trial?
Your local family and planning data is not deleted. Without Full Access, paid access is limited until Full Access is purchased or another valid entitlement is active.
Will a family need to pay again for every Apple account?
The plan for App Store release is for the one-time Full Access purchase to support Apple Family Sharing. This shares purchase access within the Apple family; it does not automatically sync local planning data between devices.
Offline, data & privacy
Does This Way Today work without internet?
Yes. The core app is local-first and remains usable without an internet connection.
Where are planning and child data stored?
In the first release, core data is stored locally on the device. Cloud sync and multi-device management are roadmap topics and are not part of the current local-first core.
Are names or planning details sent to analytics?
No, that is not part of the analytics setup. We do not send child names, planning content, parent PINs, care schedules or similar family data as analytics properties.
Backup & problems
Can I create a backup?
Yes. Parent Management can export a backup of local app data and restore it later. The parent PIN is not included in the backup.
What happens if I delete the app?
Because core data is stored locally, it may be lost when the app and its local storage are removed. Create a backup first if you want to preserve your data.
